As a result of the hours upon hours spent in the summertime and throughout the school year, the Lawrence High School Marching Band has had a year filled with accomplishments. Led by teacher and director Michael Drobish, LHS’s Marching Band, infamously known as the “Red Scare,” contributed to dozens of school spirit-raising football games, pep rallies, and competitions. The preparation and effort placed into maintaining unity and rhythm is rigorous, but our Cardinals make it look easy. Perhaps the most notable (and the Band’s favorite!) event of the year would be their trip to California’s Disneyland! The band, orchestra, and select choir members played a rendition of Frozen while marching down Main Street USA. In addition, the orchestra participated in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: a workshop in the Imagination Campus in which band members got to record the score to a scene from a Disney movie. The decision was unanimous: THIS was the coolest experience ever, and the marching band, orchestra, and choir certainly deserved it!
