Although challenged competitively,  the 2024 LHS Girl Tennis Team had a great season  and found joy in the competition and in-between moments. The girls got off to a tough start with a 5-0 loss to Delran, however they rallied their way through the season, finishing strong with a 5-0 win against Pemberton. The season may have been short in terms of tournaments (MCTs, CVC Tournament), but in the opinion of an LHS tennis player herself, I think the season is never long enough to savor the fun we have practicing, playing matches, and supporting our teammates.

Senior Sarayu Mandavilli, who played Varsity 2nd doubles, agrees, adding “the 2024 tennis season was so much fun and I was glad to be a part of it. Everyone [on] the team worked so hard. We always cheered for each other on and off the court. It was an incredible last season of tennis. I can’t wait to see what the team accomplishes next year”.

Personally, the Mercer County Tennis Tournament was a highlight. Between playing, walking around the Mercer County Parks’ beautiful outdoor tennis courts, cheering on our team, and watching the singles finals, the MCTs were really fun. In terms of tournament results, our 1st doubles won 1st place in the Consolation Round, and our 2nd doubles, 2nd place in the Consolation Round!

Big thanks to Upper-Varsity and Varsity Coach Antonio Stapleton, and Freshman Coach Daniel Christel, who showed resounding support all throughout the season, and made every day of practice memorable.

Best of luck to next year’s players, and to our seniors, who I hope continue to play in the future!
