Lawrence High School offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities that allow students to find their interests, build leadership skills, and become participative citizens. The Advocates for Innocence Club works towards the service of the Innocence Project, raising awareness regarding wrongful convictions and lobbying criminal justice reform. For students with a flair for performance, the Marching Band and Color Guard spice up school events and competition, marrying music and visual arts. For students who enjoy making desserts, the Baking Club is an outlet for creative expression. For students who prefer to test problem-solving skills, the Math League competes with other schools. Social and cultural consciousness are fostered in groups like the Black Student Union, which promotes community and cross-cultural connections, and Bring Change to Mind, which is a national organization dedicated to reducing mental illness stigma. Law and government majors can engage in Mock Trial as a means of learning about courtroom advocacy, Model Congress as a means of learning about legislative debate, or Model United Nations to practice international diplomacy.

Scholar and professional clubs are also abundant. The Computer Science Club promotes discovery of coding and tech projects, and the Muslim Student Association educates fellow students about Islam and provides a welcoming space to talk. The Debate Team (Forensics) develops public speaking and critical thinking by way of formal competition, and National History Day offers students the chance to research and present projects at regional, state, and national competition. DECA prepares students to be business and marketing leaders, and National Honor Society recognizes achievement, leadership, and service. Students are also encouraged to engage in creative and media-based activities such as the District Media Crew, which helps in the production of audiovisuals and LTPS-TV programming, or Operation Smile, which funds children who need reconstructive surgery worldwide.

Leadership and community service are emphasized in most clubs. Peer Leadership pairs upperclassmen with freshmen to guide them through the high school transition, while E-Sports Club encourages teamwork and communication via video games. Queer Student Union provides a sense of belonging and advocacy for LGBTQ+ students and allies, while the Gospel Choir comes together in song. Red & White encourages school spirit by having events monthly, and Green Action Team continues sustainability efforts by holding clean-ups and a yearly Green Fair. Science Olympiad challenges students with college-level competitions in a variety of sciences, and Homework Center offers a study room for academic support. Student Council provides students the opportunity to plan large school-wide events like Homecoming, and Interact provides students the chance to participate in significant service to the community.

LHS also offers activism and international reach clubs. Students for Social Activism is an open forum for discussing serious social issues, and the International Alliance ensures cultural diversity within the school. Students Helping Honduras raises money to support outside school-construction projects, and the Investment Club educates about financial awareness and investing strategies. Performance-oriented and creative clubs include Jazz Band, including guest musicians, and the Theater Company, which produces plays and musicals as well as offers on- and off-stage opportunities. Other clubs include the Knitting and Crochet Club, which produces handmade school and charity items, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, which recognizes outstanding student musicians, the Lawrencian Newspaper, which provides digital journalism experience, the Tangents Literary & Creative Arts Magazine club, which features the literary and creative talents of our students, and the Library Club, where students promote the Media Center as well as learn teamwork and communication.

These clubs combined embody the diversity and talent of the LHS student population, offering every student a chance to find their niche, connect with others, and contribute in a positive way to both the school community and beyond.
