Whether it be under the stadium lights on the football field or in the gymnasium during the winter months, the Lawrence High School Cheerleading Team is always there leading the charge and turning up the school spirit. Led by Coaches Corrine Mills and Dana Brackett, the LHS Cheer Team worked so hard throughout the school year to perform exceptional routines both on the field for other sports teams as well as in their own competitions.
The Varsity team was captained by Julia Koziatek, Jillian Moore, Trillian Le, and Maggie Russo. Having been apart of the cheer team in their underclassmen years, these seniors rose to the occasion to provide support, encouragement, and spirit to both new and returning cheerleaders.
In the fall season, the JV team was captained by sophomores Soraya Parks and Danielle Marcelin, while in the winter season, the JV team was captained by sophomore Nevaeh Ivy-Morris and freshmen Saniyah Oliver and Haley Pecht. These fierce ladies demonstrated great leadership and modeled the integrity of being a Lawrence Cheerleader.
The Cheer teams had an amazing season overall, but perhaps their most significant highlight is their qualifying for the UCA Cheerleading National Championship! The varsity team traveled to Orlando, Florida, and advanced to the semi-finals on Day 1! Though they did not advance to finals, this was surely a season that these Cardinals won’t soon forget.
