Between homework, extracurricular activities, and the demands of everyday school life, students are always looking for places to relax, recharge, or catch up on their work. For students who enjoy spending time with animals, Claws & Cleavers Cat Cafe & Lounge offers a different kind of environment where student visitors can enjoy a drink, spend time with cats, or simply take a break from their busy schedules.

Located in the area, Claws & Cleavers is divided between two buildings: a café where visitors can purchase drinks and pastries and a separate lounge where cats and kittens are housed. Both spaces feature a distinctive spiritual and fall-inspired aesthetic, creating a cozy atmosphere for visitors.

A Place to Study or Recharge

For students looking for a change of scenery, the café provides a relaxed setting to enjoy a drink or pastry. Visitors can choose from a variety of coffee, tea, and smoothie options, along with different pastries. The café's atmosphere may offer a welcome change from studying at home or spending another afternoon in the school library. Whether students are looking to work independently, meet up with friends, or simply enjoy some downtime, having a comfortable space outside of school can be a refreshing way to spend an afternoon.

Taking a Break with Furry Friends

One of the more unique features of Claws & Cleavers is its cat lounge. The cats and kittens in the space are fostered through different organizations while they await adoption. Students can spend time relaxing with the cats or interacting with them using the toys provided in the lounge. For students who enjoy animals, this can be an opportunity to unwind, enjoy some companionship, and l

earn more about the importance of animal fostering and adoption. Lounge visits are available in 30-minute sessions for $5 or one-hour sessions for $10. Visitors can ar

range entry through the café or make a reservation online.

An Opportunity to Give Back

Students interested in animal welfare may also appreciate the opportunity to volunteer. Volunteers help care for the cats and kittens by socializing with them, maintaining a clean and comfortable environment, refreshing food and water, and organizing toys and blankets. When asked about the responsibilities of volunteers, co-owner Candace N. explained, "Our volunteers primarily help us in the cat lounge, spending time socializing with the cats and kittens, helping keep their space clean and comfortable, refreshing food and water when needed, tidying toys and blankets, and of course giving them plenty of love and attention."

For students who enjoy working with animals or want to get involved in their community, volunteering can be a meaningful way to contribute to animal care and help prepare cats for their future homes.

A Different Way to Spend an Afternoon

Whether students are looking for a change of scenery while studying, a relaxing place to spend time with friends, or an opportunity to support animal welfare, a cat café offers an experience that combines all three. Sometimes, taking a break from the usual after-school routine can be just what students need.
