The end of the year brings about the theater company’s Senior Production. This production is solely chosen and directed by the current President and Vice President of the theater company! This year’s production is Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days, chosen and directed by President Josh Kriegel and Vice President Darcy Jammer.

A quick synopsis for those of you who are unfamiliar with the show, a wealthy British man, Phileas Fogg (played by Junior Kaiden Allesee), takes on a wager of 20,000 pounds for him to go around the world in 80 days. He confidently accepts the challenge and his hilarious travels unfold throughout the show.

When asked why they chose this show, Josh Kriegel states, “I read the book Around The World In 80 Days when I was younger and I really enjoyed how silly it was. When it came time to pick the senior show, I was looking on a website to see what plays were available, and I saw that they had turned the book into a play. I read the PDF, and the script was just as fun as I remember, so it was chosen to be the senior show.”

As this year’s President, Josh has guided the other theater company officers, organized fun events for cast and crew members of the productions, and more! He is excited to be directing this show with Vice President Darcy Jammer. While it is too late to join this show, he encourages students to consider joining the Theater Company next year. Since Josh is also a vital part of the school’s golf team, Darcy attends every rehearsal to bring their vision to life.

“I'm really excited to figure out how to bring so many different countries and settings to life on one stage, and that creative challenge is honestly what drew me to this show in the first place. The story moves so fast and has so much energy to it, and making sure that translates to the audience is something I’ve been thinking about nonstop. More than anything though, I’m just looking forward to the whole process of building something with my cast and crew and seeing it all come together on opening night!” says Darcy.

Josh, Darcy, and the cast and crew are having a great time preparing for the show. The show nights are Friday, May 29th and Saturday, May 30th. Tickets are $10 at the door! The Theater Company hopes to see you there!
