Lawrence High School’s DECA chapter has had a year to remember. Out of 116 chapters across the state, LHS stood out for its commitment to leadership, service, and professional growth, and was named New Jersey’s Chapter of the Year. DECA helps prepare students for future careers in areas like marketing, finance, hospitality, and management—and LHS is clearly leading the way.

Under the guidance of advisors Mr. John Tees and Mrs. Alexis Eggert, the chapter has grown to an impressive 240 members, powered by a hardworking executive board. Their success comes from strong student involvement, a focus on leadership opportunities, and meaningful community service.

Just in April, 16 members traveled to the International Career Development Conference (ICDC), the largest DECA event ever, with over 25,000 students from around the world.

Lawrence students performed exceptionally well—and one Cardinal soared above the rest. Junior Roshni Anarkat brought home first place in her event, making her achievement one of global distinction.

Reflecting on the year, Mr. Tees shared, “I couldn’t be prouder of our incredible DECA students. We earned Chapter of the Year and even a 1st place international win! What a year—it’s been truly unforgettable. Well done, Cardinals!”

Echoing these sentiments, Mrs. Eggert commented, “What really made this year special was how our students showed up for each other—every single time. They led with passion, put in the work, and created something truly meaningful. Huge thanks to our officer team for their leadership, and to the entire Lawrence community for standing behind us. I’m so proud to be part of the Lawrence DECA family."

With a statewide title and an international win under their belt, there’s no doubt that LHS DECA has made its mark—and the best may still be ahead.
