The Lawrence High School Boys Soccer team is off to an exciting start this season, highlighted by a thrilling 2–1 overtime victory against Nottingham in just their second game. With senior Raul Sepulveda netting the game-winning goal in the final minute, the Cardinals secured an early statement win and set the tone for what promises to be a strong year.

Coming off an 11–9–1 record last season, the team has its sights set on improvement. Many returning players dedicated their summer to training, and their efforts are already showing as the team stands 6–1 and ranked third in the CVC.

Coach Jeffrey Mollinelli praised the team’s effort and unity, saying, “We have a talented bunch, and the kids are working very hard to represent the school. Our senior night game against Princeton was fantastic, and we were very grateful for all of the current students and alumni who came out to cheer on our boys.”

As senior co-captains, Juan Revolorio and Raul Sepulveda are leading the team both on and off the field with dedication, passion, and purpose.

When asked about his goals for the season, Revolorio shared his vision: “I dream big. My hopes for the season are simple—to win. We’re working hard to earn a CVC title, and if things play in our favor, I know we can go far in the CVC tournament and states. More importantly, I want to foster an environment where the team feels like a family. I want the younger players to leave knowing that they can do anything they set their minds to—not just in soccer, but in life.”

Sepulveda, the other half of the captain duo, also has his sights set on ambitious goals: “We want to win the CVC and have the least amount of goals conceded in a single season. But we know we have to stay humble, compete hard, and give everything we have every game.”

With strong leadership, a talented roster, and a united team spirit, the Lawrence Boys Soccer team is ready to make this season one to remember.

As their season steadily approaches its conclusion, Coach Mollinelli encourages fans to come out and show their support: “We’d love the Cardinal Crazies to come cheer for our boys. They’re working hard to represent our school, and they deserve the support.”
