This year, the concentrated efforts of Lawrence High School’s choir programs evolved into incredible performances and overall achievements. LHS music teacher and choir director Mandy Johnson worked to guide her “choir cohorts” through some tough melodies. She challenged the ranges and tones of her multi-talented singers and brought out the very best in her choir students. Over the course of the school year, several concerts bring the student body and the community together. Our Cardinals’ voices do a wonderful job of setting a tranquil space in which we can all reflect and bask in the simplicity of music. This year’s Winter Concert was one of those examples where the choir wrapped us up in a warm, cozy mood as we prepared for the winter holidays.
In addition to our seasonal concerts, the LHS Gospel Choir has led a very successful year. Their most notable performance and achievement was earning first place at the Move On Up: Gospel Sing-Off Competition at Monmouth University. As part of their win, the LHS Gospel Choir earned $10,000 to use to amplify their already tremendous program. Amazing job!
