The Lawrence High School Field Hockey team had great success this season! They accomplished their first win against the Princeton High School team a bit earlier in the season, and then did it again in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Valley Conference (CVC) Tournament. Senior Caroline Rotteveel, who has played all 4 years of her high school career, comments that this was a personal favorite moment of her final season as a Lady Card.

She describes how “It was a night game and the regular game ended in a 1-1 so we went into overtime. During overtime I scored the winning goal and we were able to move onto the semi finals against Notre Dame.” Rotteveel was also recently recognized by the Trenton Times as the 2024 Field Hockey Player of the Year. Way to go, Caroline!

The Princeton win also fired up other 4-year players and senior members of the Team, Isabella (Izzy) Margolis and Tess Adolf. Izzy discusses how “It was a game I thought that highlighted the grit of our team and showed how well we worked together. We worked super hard and it was a really exciting win, since it was our program’s first win over Princeton in a really long time.” Tess also added how great it was “having an amazing semi-final game against Notre Dame, but sadly losing in overtime 5-4.” Although this loss brought a triumphant end to the girls’ season, the Lady Cards did not go down without a fight! Amongst the losses and wins of this season, just playing and being a part of the field hockey team served as a highlight for all of the girls.

Junior player Jenna Eisenbach simply shares that, “[I] play with the most talented field hockey players I know. Every game was a highlight for me. I just went out, had fun, and enjoyed every second of it.” In the course of a season, there are so many moving parts, and all of the players agreed that their Coach Megan Errico and Assistant Coach Paige MacArthur have been the main sources of inspiration and discipline that made them have a successful season. Rotteveel, Margolis, and Adolf all leave heartfelt shoutouts to their coaches, wishing them nothing but the best as they prepare to walk the stage for graduation later in June, while Eisenbach eagerly prepares for her final season.

Congratulations on a successful season, Lady Cards!
