The saying goes “April showers bring May flowers,” but the gloomy weather this time of year can often bring boredom instead. Rather than picking up your phone and scrolling for hours on end, here are some simple, but enjoyable activities you can do to spend your rainy days!

Scrapbooking is a great craft to jot down all of your memories and journal your feelings without words! It is an engaging activity and encourages you to think outside the box.
For this craft, you will need:
Journal or sketchbook
Scissors or paper trimmer
Glue
Stickers
Patterned cards or paper
Decorations of your choice
You can pick up scrapbooking any time you would like, but it’s great for a rainy day! Scrapbooking isn’t always an independent activity either, you can plan a meetup with a friend or a few and craft to your heart’s content together!
If you prefer activity over creativity, finding a simple stretch routine online can provide you with relaxation and help you feel more grounded in your mind. Stretches are great to do at any time of day, but are especially satisfying immediately after you wake up or right before you become snug in bed!
For this activity, you won’t need much besides:
A guided stretch video (many can be found on YouTube!)
A yoga mat or soft carpet
Stretching will get you into a better headspace and can either energize you for the long day ahead, or help you wind down to rest!
If both of these activities don’t spark your interest, head over to Lawrenceville’s local library and browse their shelves to find a book you will enjoy! Finding your perfect book can unlock a new part of you that you would not have otherwise found. Additionally, if you like the idea of visiting the library, the Mercer County Library offers a variety of programs, providing times for craft sessions, collaborative events, and other opportunities!
There are many ways to beat the dreary downpour this spring, and we encourage you to try at least one of these activities when you’re limited to the indoors. By the time you’ve filled out a few of your scrapbook entries, tried several stretch routines, or maybe you finished a series you began this month, the April showers will have passed, and soon the May flowers will bloom!
